    Default Oystercatcher

Going back to some of the images that I captured over the Thanksgiving break. This one was taken on my final day at Little Estero Lagoon, FL. There were a pair of Oystercatchers resting, and I was able to get close enough to get a full frame shot. Cropped to 16:9 to get rid of some of the space up top and below.

For a larger version, look here.

    Shooting info:
    Nikon D800 | 500 f/4 | 1.4x
    1/1000" | f/10 | ISO 400

Comments, critiques, and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Miguel, Good low angle on the OC with OOF fore and background. Image could benefit from a little bit of leveling (CCW). For my taste the OC is too big in the frame. I would add some space on the right, top and bottom.

Good suggestions made by Clemens. Good low angle, exposure and sharpness. If it were mine, I would probably leave the bottom as is, but add space on other 3 sides.

    Miguel:

Nice shooting angle, sharpness, angle in frame.

If it weren't for that dominate orange bill, the snug framing would probably work fine, but I agree that it is a bit tight for this particular bird.

Matter of taste, but slightly smaller in frame i usually more 'comfortable' feeling.

    Cheers

I like the low angle, sharpness and BG. I agree with that the OC is a little tight in the frame. Well done Miguel!

Ditto pretty much all of the above, especially a bit too big in the frame. What grabbed my eye first was the fact that some of the white feathers appear greyed out.... As if from too much trying to restore detail in the WHITEs.

Thank you for the input guys. See attached for a repost. I gave more room on the right, left, and top. Brightened the whites a bit, desaturated the orange a tad, and cleaned up some of the feathers.

Excellent Miguel, low angle work so well, love the sharpness and detail. I definitely prefer the re-post with more space TFS.

The repost definitely has a more comfortable composition. Great low angle, sharpness, exposed well. I prefer the orange bill on the OP though. Perhaps try to warm up the image a bit?

Hi Miguel, excellent exposure, and I like your your low angle of capture. Overall sharp, killer BG, and Im with Dan on your repost. The bill in your OP looked fine, but I do like the extra space all round.
