    Geir:

Excellent shooting angle, nice light, colors ,exposure.

I would consider toning down the faint specular highlights over the dark mass in the LUC. In fact, might even do some very light clone stamp work over the mass just to soften it a bit more. I like its presence, it adds depth to the image, but would try a version with it a bit softer.

    Cheers

Stunning detail and color here. I agree that the dark mass does detract but the bird iteslf is so well exposed etc my eyes go to latter.
great POV and a nice species to boot!

Sharp with a good exposure and a nice raised foot. Nice light too. What month? The dark mass is distracting for me. The bird is in first-winter plumage.

Picture taken January 5, 2012. I agree, that the darkness was not good. Then it is just to have an even greater focus on BG next time.

    Hi Geir,
nice to see you posting again!
I really like the IQ of the bird.
The light and low POV are excellent.
another vote from me to tone down the sand mound on the left,

Nice low angle and raised foot. Dark area is a bit distracting but might work if you could tone down the specular hilites as suggested. I also like the rock by the foot but would consider removing the oof one in front left if this were mine.

Beautiful shot and nice timing with the raised foot. The details are there, and the colors are great. Love the dynamic pose and the catchlight on the tip of the beak and the eye. I agree that the dark spot is a bit distracting.

Good image quality on the bird. Nice low angle. Another vote for losing the black in the BG. TFS

Great IQ and light on the bird. While the dark spots are distracting, the bird is big enough in the frame to absorb most of the focus.

Geir, Great capture of the bird, good IQ and sharpness. Ideally, you should have pressed the shutter a little earlier, in order to avoid the merge with the OOF dark background spots. There would than also have been more separation between the feet and the reddish rock, which is too close for my comfort. i would try to eliminate the dark spot on the LLC.

excellent details, light and a good pose. I also wish the black band in the BG was not present...

Great low angle, intimate point of view, light quality is superb. Details are sharp...except for the raised foot.
In this case, pushing the techs to say ISO800 or 1000 to get more shutter speed at the time of capture,
was worth considering imo. Composition "feels" a little tight on the bottom, when considering the virtual leg.
I love this shorebird, and you've presented a great image of it...thanks.
