Excellent pose - great background. Well sharpened. If you did a little PP work you could separate the tail by lightening the shadow areas created by the flash. next time you might want to try using flash as fill rather than key light -- that would eliminate the deep shadows.

@ Don : thanks for the tip on separating the tail...regarding the deep shadows...the flash was used as fill only...never compensated on the camera's exposure....flash was compensated..by -1 1/3rd...the bird was perched in a dark area

Can you list the camera settings, including EC on camera? eg aperature, speed, EC of camera, mode of camera. It will help in understanding wht you've done.
Try setting the flash at EC -2, as you're still throwing shadows from the flash.
Also, you might remove the double highlight in the eye when you fill flash - both the flash and the broader skylight behind you show in the eye.

Great background and bird. The perch is a little too dominant in the corner, but you did not had a choice there. What was the f-stop?

Nicely composed and I dont mind the chunky perch, sharp details and lovely pose on the bird and nicely separated from the background.....my only though was the backdrop is very colorful and competes a little with the bird, possibly toning back the color a little may improve

Cute little bird, almost looks like a european robin. Love the HA and details. Perch a little large but not too too bad. I'm OK with the background colour. To me the image does have a bit of a flashed look to it, but not excessively so.
