I wanted to include the whole nest, so some may feel separation of the right wing of the weaver from the nest would have been better. I could have zoomed out to allow more space to fly into, but then the weaver would have been much smaller in the frame. This weaver was going about his business returning to his nest with grass to build his nest, and then leaving to fetch more. Taken in the Pilanesberg National Park back in January when these guys were very active. The BG is distant water and reeds and was shot as is.

Brilliant image and a brilliant looking nest! I also enjoy the wing blur.
Count me as one of those who would prefer more seperation of the bird's wing
from the nest, even if that meant the bird was smaller in the frame.

I like the inclusion of the nest Stuart, and what a neat neat nest it is - so cleaverly woven. Very sharp where it counts and a complimentry BG.

Beautifully sharp good detail in the dark and light plumage, great pose well caught. I also like the complimentary yellow in the background - a very pleasing shot. The slight wing blur at the wing tips is the finishing touch!

The BG really helps to bring out the bird and the nest very nice. I like the wing blur and the position of the bird. TFS

    Stuart:

I like the story telling aspect, the incomplete nest that you can see through, sense of action from pose and blurred wings. Yes, in a perfect world, some separation of wing from the nest, but I still find it an effective image as is!

    Cheers

I like the colors a lot in this one, Stuart.
Very attractive, I do wish there was a bit of separation so I could see the nest better.
The birds head and eye are very nice.
