I used Simplify "I feel lucky" setting. The rest was lighting work with curves, and some saturation adjustment. Comments welcome..............

You certainly did get lucky! That's beautiful! When I have done that only a few times I get something really bizarre.

Thanks Judy, The initial I feel lucky image was bizarre, but it had some interesting features so I fooled around with the sliders and then reduced the blend opacity.

The light coming through the tree and shining on the field turned out super. I like that touch of pink in the sky on the right side. I have never tried the "I feel lucky" setting and now you have inspired me!

Jay, you sure did get "lucky". This is really beautiful. I'll have to start feeling lucky too! I never play around with the sliders when I hit the Get Lucky button (maybe that's why I never get anything I like). Nice composition too!

    ......

Thanks, Cheryl. It's a gas to play around with..........note that what you see on the Simplify Image is often times way different after Topaz has "processed" the image into a layer....meaning, there's a bunch of hit and miss! I probably tried a half a dozan variations before finding a base image that I liked once it got to Photoshop and then could "fine tune".

You captured a beautiful scene, and I expect that hadn't nothing to do with an I Feel Lucky button. It was nice how the clouds pretty much follow the outline of the tree on the top and left. Was this an HDR or did you capture the wonderful lighting in a single shot?

HI Dennis..........many times I had wished I captured this in HDR, but it is a single image. The histogram was just barely within the highlight and shadow limits. I used NX2 to recover the shadows and control the higlights. Fortunatley the sun postioned behind the tree kept the highlights manageable. I embellished a bit on the lighting :). This is the image before it went to Photoshop. Shadows and highlights totally recovered from the RAW file in Capture NX2, the embellishment included coaxing out the last bit of highlights in the grasses.

I hope this is not getting tedious, but there seemed to be some interest on the Feeling Lucky thing................here is the image from Simplify after processing into the Photoshop layer............no blending yet.

I'm glad you showed the Simplify image. I'm amazed that you saw it's potential as I wouldn't have! So how did you blend it? As in what blend mode and opacity?

Judy, what grabbed me about the Simplify image was the high details in the edges of the leaves and grasses. I typically don't save my photoshop files, since I go back forth between it, and Capture NX2. As I recall, it was Divide mode, low opacity. I would have try it again to be sure. I'm thinking 20% or so Opacity.

Thanks for posting the before-Photoshop image. The lighting on the grass is one of the things that makes the final one look so good.

Outstanding. I love the light--excellent! Love the softness of the sky, the color of the tree, the light on the grass. Thanks for showing the before and feeling lucky images. Like others, I would never have proceeded with I feel lucky. Great vision and persistence.
