    It is probably difficult to get a clear shot of these birds in dense forest, but the diagonal branch is a bit distracting IMO. Also the reflection in the eye looks a bit awkward.

    I've noticed this effect using flash on birds in dark conditions. The pupil of the eye is large and you get reflection of the flash off the back of the eye of the bird- essentially bird red-eye.
