I'm sure you all must be getting tired of Double-barred finches

Daniel and a few others commented that my images appear a bit contrasty. I think it may have a bit to do with my monitor calibration. The last post and this post I've omitted my usual slight 'S' curve (Linear contrast) that I usually apply to my front-lit subjects.
I would be interested to hear if you notice an improvement in the cotrast.

I don't see any real difference John between this and the trio set, I didn't actually think the first was overly contrasted either, but I personally prefer contrasty images, they seem richer to me....possibly a little flash bright is all.

Lovely shot, but I think the trio composition works better....so did you start with 10 hehehe

No not quite Phil - 3 was all I could manage! The Trio image got the same PP treatment as this current image, that is, no added contrast applied.

    John,
    I like this image.

At this scale and with just the two birds the image is very intimate. I thinks it's a very different image than the triple.
I also find I don't have the same concerns about the flowers with this image.

I really like multiple bird images like this. You get to see the detail of the whole bird: Face, neck, breast, back, wings, and tail.

Thanks for sharing both. I find it interesting to study reactions to similar images like these.

Fantastic twosome here John. Love the poses, the perch and the bg. What an image!
I'd tone down the brightness a tad. Those blossoms are gorgeous - do you have more of them?

very cool, this one doesn't look as contrasty as the last ones. more natural :) Nice details and colors. The upper bird's face needs more sharpening.
