    Default King Penguin

Photographed on the island of South Georgia in the southern Atlantic Ocean. With this image I wanted to show a bit of their land habitat. I saw them standing on snow, as here, also standing in mud and grass.

    Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 400 f4 DO IS, 1/1250, f11, ISO 400.

    All c & c most welcome.

Maybe an atypical composition but I like it as presented, surely environmental. The head looks a little dark but I never saw one of these in real life so don't change anything on my opinion...Really cool image!

Nice to see this handsome penguin doing something Grace. Exposure for the whites well handled. I was tossing up whether the subject would be best on the left side seeing he is moving to the right; but I guess you wanted to include the long shadow which does add interest.

I like the comp with the shadow.
I would like to see the eye better, maybe just lighten the head a bit?

Great image as is. I enjoy the subject placement/pose and the shadow.
The shadow gave you a great leading line in the frame. Only suggestion
would have been to back up far enough to get the whole shadow in the
    image if possible.....

Thank you all for looking and your comments. The head really is a bit darker than the rest of the body and I can't remember now why I did not include all of the shadow.

This is a terrific image, Nancy. I love the unconventional comp, the pose and the overall design. I would include the entire shadow if possible.
    Very neat!

Nice capture Nancy. The exposure is very good, I think the head is okay the way it is.

  10. Thanks Nancy Bell thanked for this post
