    Default Male Rainbow Bee-eater

    Federation Walk, Gold Coast, Queensland.
Nikon D7000, Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED VR. Gitzo tripod, Wimberley head.

AUTO ISO: 900, Aperture: 7, Shutter: 1/1250, Exp. Comp.: +1.3, Program: Manual. VR: On, Tripod mode.
Date: 4/12/2012, Time: 4:44:22 PM. Natural light, tripod, cropped, darkened slightly with a little cloning over ugly part of perch under bird. Light NR.
I was aiming for rich colors with the later light and a good head angle with a pleasing pose. I was happy to get the beak open. The background is OOF yellowy brown grass in the distance.

Just lovely. Great colors, open beak, good HA. What a large head on this little guy. Well done.

Nicely done, nicely isolated from background, sharp and open beak is great, nice perch too. A rarity for me down south sadly, but always a treat to see them when I get a chance to travel...getting a decent image is another story

A great Bee-eater capture Peter - nice clean image, good feather detail and the open mouth (?calling) adds impact. looks like his lost one of his tail feather extensions as they often do during burrowing.

Thanks John, looks like calling but it was just open. Yes just one tail feather good spot!

Lovely shot! Very nicely composed, great colors, and couldn't ask for any more detail.
