    Default Double-barred Trio

I got lucky when 3 Double-barred finches landed on this perch looking for a feed. Unfortunately not all 3 are on the same film-plane.

The top bird needs a bit more sharpening, but another very nice multiple bird photo you have done.
    Cool perch and attractive birds.

Lovely composition, and always love a trio set....how in the world do you find these birds let alone get them to perch on an ideal branch ?

This is a beautiful composition !! The alert birds , the lovely perch make it brilliant ! Do the birds eat those flowers , any part of this plant or they just used it as a perch ?

Hi Phil, these finches were high on my list for over a decade and early this year I found an ideal habitat with the 3 common species only 15 mins drive from home. This lot are waiting for their turn at a feeder.

Thank you for your comments - these are finches and their diet consists of grass seeds and a few insects. They are only using this flowering wattle branch as a perch.

Really brilliant image, with a perch as visually interesting as your three subjects.
Beautiful finch species. Wish that you had zoomed back just slightly to get a bit
more dof and possibly be able to compose the image, including the entire blossom
at the left hand side bottom of the frame...Regardless, it's a brilliant image!

    I love things in threes.
Perch and IQ on the 2 lower birds is awesome.
The highest most birds face needs some sharpening.
Shawn makes excellent points re : perch.
    A lovely shot,
    Gail

John, I love these finches. What beautiful subjects! And to get three so tightly grouped in one shot is a real accomplishment! Wonderful background, beautiful light, and a lovely perch. I would agree that the image would be a little stronger if the blossom had been smaller, so that you could have kept the finches at their current size while retaining the complete blossom, and if the eye of the rightmost finch was in the same focal plane as the eyes of the other two birds. Unfortunately, we can't control everything!

Wonderful image. Like the whole scene and the birds are lined up nicely. Exposure and detail is nice. Agree that more sharpening on the outer bird would help. Well done.

    John,
What a fun image. It is very eye catching but I don't know why I think it is "fun".
It just puts a smile on my face.
    Love it.
I too want to see the bottom of the flowers. As it is they seem clipped.
Another option might be to trim some off the left side so you don't see the end of the flowers to the left.
This may help to eliminate that clipped sense.

Thanks Doug for you comments. Yes the rather large head of flowering wattle is a bit of a problem, I think your suggestion has merit.
