The high key doesn't bother me and I like the action with the osprey and the stick but the blur in the wing I find distractiong. If your shutter speed had been higher you would have avoided this blur. Also the osprey is centered im this image and it is more desirable to leave more space to the right to leave room for him to fly out. Thanks Bob for sharing .

I like the action Remarkable piece of lumber that bird is carrying !!! Leave it up to Bob to come up with that !!!!

No idea on the compensation that you were using but should have been even more Usually we shoot at + 2 2/3 under those conditions The bird is under exposed I do like the high key very much but not the blur Would suggest using higher ss !!!

    Bob,
As a vert, I like the placement in the frame as it is.
On large in the frame subjects in a vertical image, I will take my 1/3 in the middle.

    I like the action.

You created this image at 1/200 at ISO 200 Comp 0?
    Bump to ISO 800 @ + 1 and you are at 1/400
Bump to ISO 800 @ + 2 and you are back to 1/200

    I might have gone ISO 800 +1 1/3 @ F6.3
That would put me @ 1/640 (if my math is correct)

Whiter whites, and a sharper image.

    James

PS to AL, don't go +2 2/3 with your Nikon!

Ett Bobbinger, I am fine with the comp (+2 points). And the branch is kickin'. (+2 points) The bird is facing away. (-2 points).
I am betting that you created this image at the metered exposure and opened it up with either Levels or SH/H thus the muddy colors... (-10 points!) Thus James' comments on using a higher ISO. Sorry Charley.
