I've been trying to catch up with this bird for a while and a freezing cold day yesterday paid off. This male seemed quite happy feeding away. As always, comments really appreciated.

Really cool looking little bird. I like the angle you captured him, the open mouth, the perch, and the BG. Wish that one pine cone wasn't intersecting, but it is what it is. Nice one either way!

Beautiful dorsal look with nice HA and showing his raspberry cap. Very nice detail and comp.

Nicely done. I like how the wing feathers almost look mirror image.

Nicely captured in that hanging pose Simon and well portrayed against the mottled sky. Cute little bird.

Killer wintery background. Great light and a very pleasing composition, including a great backside view
of the subject with a perfect head angle. In my neck of the woods I believe the flora would be called
an alder bush...same name on your side of the pond?

Great image, , love the head angle and the comp. Not easy birds to get in the open and low down it seems, I normally see them at the tops of twiggy trees on dull days. well done

Thanks very much for all the comments. I was rather pleased to catch up with it and especially have one visible rather than high up in the tree tops. It's great when it all falls into place and makes you realise why you do this hobby.

    Thanks again.
