    Default Evening Grosbeak

Hey guys I took this along with the titmouse photo I posted last week, it was my first time seeing these wonderful birds.

Anyway as for the picture I took it at a feeder at the local Park, I placed a number branches on top and around the feeder to provide me with a nice background, unfortunately the grosbeaks didn't want to use any and would stay in the shrubs, so I had to clean up a few distracting spots in the background.

Beautiful image. The light quality is soft and pleasant and your exposure work is solid.
Pleasing eye level perch, and the perch itself has some nice character, as well as being
appropriately sized for the subject. Composition and subject placement work well imo.

Nice shot Corey! Great work in cleaning up the distractions. You could probably chop off a bit of the top side of the canvas. I actually like the bird/branch just a slightly higher in the frame. It also looks like you ran some noise reduction; the details on the head and shoulder are alright, but I would tone down the NR a bit on the flank to give that area a bit more details.

I like it. Nice composition and good exposure.

I think I would prefer to see the head not turned toward the camera as much. Also that might also get the eye out of the shadow too.

Corey, that is one beautiful bird! What lens did you use, I'd love to know. Many thanks!

Excellent capture. Pose and perch well done.
With just a little additional work you can clean up the blue/cyan in the white feathers, as well as selectively lighten the extremely dark wing and the area around the eye. There is a lot more in this image!

Beautiful image of a bird I have not seen in a few years now. Great job rendering the yellows as they are. I do like what Don has done, and I would go further and smooth out a couple of the harder lines in the BG. Very well done overall.

    Thanks guys for the feedback.

I forgot to say I use the 500mm f4, I think on this shot I had the 1.4 tc attached.
