    Default Egret Preen

Shot this in 2009 at a local rookery near my house. This egret gave me a good half hour of preening shots. I cropped this from a vertical to bring a little more intimacy to the image as well as attention to the fine lines of the feathers..

Well this is certainly interesting. Great detail in the whites, I love the feather across the beak. For some reason I keep wanted to tilt my laptop 90degree CCW...Very cool shot!

One of the best head/preening images I've seen Cheryl - Very sharp and excellent exposure for the white plumage. The preening action offers loads of impact to the composition. Very nice indeed!

Gorgeous image of this species with a pleasing behavioral component.
    The image design is sophisticated.

Yes, neat preening pose here. The exposure looks spot-on. Nice details...and having said that I would sharpen the breeding plume LESS (perhaps not at all depending on the result) as it appears sharper than the rest as posted.

Hi Cheryl, lovely whites, exposed nicely, and I like how you have captured the preening pose - head tucked downwards. The BG really makes the head and neck stand out.

I love the comp you have chosen here, Cheryl. Really accentuates the sinuous twist of the neck and the white against the green is so pretty. Super detail in your whites. Lovely image.

I love the curves and the detail and the bright green BG.
Image reminds me of someone playing the harp.
    Well done,

The tight crop gives it a unique composition that works perfectly.
You might change the red in the upper left edge to green. But it is probably best the way you have it.
