A couple of these birds were busy feeding on berries fallen to the ground. This particualr individual foraged to with 12 incnes of my grounded elbow...
Canon 7D + 100-400L @275mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3, ISO 400 (settings histogram checked), natural light, handheld, slight crop for comp, a few highlights in the BG toned down via low opacity clone stamp, and the FG darkend via burn tool.
Yes Daniel you have certainly achieved your low perspective for this one providing a nice soft BG to portray the Grosbeak. Sharp, good HA and exposure.

Daniel, very nice! Indeed, your low angle shots are always pleasing. This one is wonderful as well. The slight head angle and open beak really add to it. How do you get these guys to get so close?
Thanks all!! Miguel, this species is naturally quite tame and easy to approach when done slowly (as are the waxwings). I did not, however, imagine this individual would wander so close as to almost hop over my elbow!
Hi Dan, excellent low angle, and love the inquisitive glance whilst feeding. The light looks nice and soft, and I really like the overall colours through the entire image. Did I mention how sharp this is. Congrats on a fine image.
