A pair of Royal Terns. The male below is returning from the sea with a anchovy for his mate. They have a beautiful side by side display that they do when he returns.

very cool, I like that both are sharp and the dish is a plus. there are some sharpening halos around the edges.

    very nice work!

Thats well seen and captured David. An interesting display - I wondering if its some defence ploy to protect their catch against marauding gulls.

Thanks Arash for the comment. Appreciated. Thanks also John, and to answer your question, I dont think it is a defensive ploy. I believe it is a pair bonding behavior. I will post a shot of the actual display with both birds flying side by side like a mirror.

    David:

Nice DOF considering the focal length and f/stop. Like the interaction and its story telling. In a perfect world, would wish for the females wing position to not cut behind the male, but it still works well. Looking forward to the other post you mentioned.

    Cheers

This is so cool, don't think I've ever seen this photographed before. Wonderful behavior captured, with excellent sharpness, head angles, and view of fish. Sweet image.

Excellent job with a really difficult setting.
Getting both sharp is hard to do, just great.
