One sweet image. well planned and exicuted. Love the framing by the leaves.
Thats a lovely composition of the Yellow Thornbill Greg. Beautiful warm tones throughout and a nice soft BG. I would normally suggest removing the leaves in the left hand corners but in this case they do tend to form an attractive frame for the thornbill.
Well thought out image, love the soft light. BG is superb. The leaves (which look amazing!!) frame the subject quite well, but I could see a version where the lens had been pointed down a bit more (subject higher in the frame). very well done.
Sweet. Beautifully framed, great perch and bg, perfect HA. Looks excellent for ISO 3200. (No flash used?) I don't know the species but I suspect that catching him in a perfect pose and getting him sharp at 1/500 was a real feat.

This is beautiful. The pose, sharpness, eye contact, color and background are all excellent. And the framing by the leaves is most unusual and effective.

sweet! love the light pose and the perch well done!

Hi Greg, the framing of the little guy just works so well, and love the view of his grip on the perch too. I like the subtle yellows on him, and the BG is sweet.
All over in 4 days. I must admit, after our 1st innings, I thought we were the ones going to get a pasting. I wont bring it up again.![]()
Brilliant image. The complexity and thoughtful arrangement of the perch/subject placement, payed handsome dividends here.
This clearly looks like a pre-planned image and forgive my assumption if it is not....what type of approach did you use to attract
this little sprite to where you wanted it? Sweet, sweet image sir, and splendid results given the high iso.
sweet!Beautifully framed, great perch and bg, perfect HA.
Thanks for the feedback and interest guys - much appreciated.
Shawn, this was a pre-planned image - firstly finding the species in the field, then setting up some perches next to a tree the birds were in, then a small amount of playback to coax them down. I was still a little lucky, as this species is lightning fast and only one individual landed in this clear spot on the perch! It was an overcast day, so I needed high ISO to get a decent SS.
Stuart, well done in the 3rd Test - a cracking series, but the cream finally rose to the top![]()
That perch is stunning! Great, thought out shot. I'm not sure how you got him to land right there, but well done!
Great job on the in the field setup. Exposed well and full of detail. Nicely framed by the foliage. Well done.
Beautifully done Greg. I have nothing to add to other's comments. Agree the foliage beautifully frames the bird. Well done.
Yep, nicely framed with the leaves and lovely side on posture, lots of detail as well, I've yet to come across this particular Thornbill yet, is the color normally that vivid ?
