Hi Chris, love the colours in this, and I like the high placement of the nuthatch in the frame. The frost adds a nice touch after your explaination.

I would rather have my low 30 deg C's, than your frost, sleet and snow. At least Father Christmas can use his sleigh in your area - you dont want to know how he arrives in this part of the world.

Beautiful , clean Bg add to a fine image. Great subject and very classic pose for this bird. Well done , on all counts.

BG colors really set this image apart.
I would do another round of sharpening on the face but no one else ha mentionned this, so perhaps I need new glasses!!

Beautiful perch. Excellent use of d-o-f and a nice background. Bummer that the head is turned away....

This is a neat composition Chris - I like the downward pose of the Nuthatch here, the sharpness, killer BG and that intersting frost encrusted perch - love it!

Excellent composition. The frost on the perch is a sweet detail and really enhances the perch.
One consideration would be to selectively add just a bit of a contrast bump to the subject.
Also, at the time of capture, iso 800/f-stop stopped down just a bit for more dof to cover
the subject, was worth considering. The dof covering the lower part of the perch so well, but
not the feet and tail end of the bird is not quite optimal imo.

Christopher, Having the head angled slightly away bugs me but only 500 times more than the slightly o-o-f feet.... The best head angle here would have been perfectly square to the sensor.

Hey Chris, Good that you are not bugged but do understand that the image would have been far stronger with the head square to the back of the camera....
