    Default Galah chick

This young Galah chick was one of four - they all appeared fully feathered and ready to fledge but remained in the nest hollow for another 2 weeks. (not unlike some of the teenagers of today)

This one waits patiently at the tree hollow entrance for the parents to return with a full crop. The dark shadow behing the chick may not be desirable but it does suggest the deep dark hollow below. (excuses, excuses).

    Hi John,
    My favorite Australian bird!
A wonderful opportunity and you are capitalizing on it very well.
Good comp and light and I like the open beak.
I don't mind the shadow behind the bird and would not have noticed had you not mentioned it.
I find the image a bit contrasty and would adjust it a bit.

Great photo, John. I especially like the raised crest. The lighting is perfect as well.

Hi John, excellent feather detail on the head, tack sharp, and I like your overall comp. Light, colours, flashwork, all good. Im fine with the POV as is, but wonder if moving your tower to the right, so when chick peers out, the head is against the distant BG, and not intersecting with the tree. OK, Im being picky.

Just loving this one. Only thought is to take a bit off the bottom. That is just my taste. Still a sweet image.

I too love everything about this one. Love the lighting and the nest hole, and of course, the bird.
