    Default Pleco for lunch

Its been a long time since I have had my 500 out of the camera bag so it was fun to get out the other day and head to Wakodahatchee in search of the wonderful Würdemann's Heron that is nesting there. After spending the morning shooting her and other GBH I saw this Ahinga with a Pleco catfish on my way out of the wetlands.

1DMKIII, 500 f/4+ 1.4 TC, 1/400 at f/7.1, Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metered, Tripod, Small Crop and ran a little blur on the BG not something I normally do but I felt is just a touch to distracting.

Nicely done. Head angle and exposure is fine. Generally light below/dark above images do not work well but here the light is soft enough so that the image does work. I even like the inclusion of the fork in the perch for compositional balance.

Really nice capture. I like the pose/position of the bird. I think the BG and the perch show off the environment well.

Nicely done. I like the speared fish and overall colours. A couple of brighter spots in the BG could be toned down, especially the one next to the perch.

A nice composition Don that tells a story. The speared fish adds lots of interest to this image.

Hi Don, interesting comp, it works, but I may have gone with a traditional horizontal. The Anhinga is well exposed, sharp, and good to see his catch. The BG is far enough away for separation.

Very sharp image, love the pose and the skewered fish. Agree with Randy that the bright spot to the left of tree could be toned down a bit. Well done.
