    Default Black Swan (Cygnus atratus)

    Black Swan (Cygnus atratus).

I have not been able to get out at all over the last few weeks, have been working away up in the Bogong High Plains with work.
Due to it being remote hike in work I was not even able to carry the camera and big lens. So headed out this morning to see what was around this little private swamp, I really like this shot given the conditions where quite dull.

Cropped for composition, minor colour adjust in ACR, Resize and sharpen in PS CS5.
    C&C most welcome.
    Camera Pentax K200D and Sigma 150-500m, ISO400, SS1/250, f6.3, EV +0.3.

    Charlie:

I like the texture you were able to show in your swan. We have a pair locally, and I love to study their plumage.
    Sharp and well exposed.

In a perfect world, would prefer the water to be all one color, or at least the entire bird in one color. If you have the option, sometimes a slightly higher or lower shooting perspective will help in that regard.

    Cheers

Nice one Charlie with excellent detail in the dark plumage. The red bill & eye always make these guys pop. The reflections in the BG also add interest to this composition.
I've been wondering why some images submitted to BPN forum fail to show up as a thumbnail image. I often miss some of these, so I apologise Charlie if I've over-looked any of your images.

Very cool swan species. The exposure seems perfect and the detail in the dark plumage is very good. There is some noise in the BG which can be easily handled but nice image overall.
