    Default Eastern Yellow Robin

This was one of those rare occasions when I was bush-walking with my camera rather than my binoculars. I noted a Yellow Robin taking food to its mate and feeding her on the nest. This was taken a few seconds after she accepted the insect.

    EOS 5, EF100-300 F5.6L, ISO 100, 1/200 sec F11, natural light with fill flash.

Beautiful shot John. Dosnt look over flashed and exposed well. Great HA while she is sitting in the nest and the insect in her mouth with its head facing us is very cool. Like the comp too. Might do some NR on the nice green BG. Great work.

    John:

The natural framing provided by the tree works well here, excellent view of prey, sharp, well exposed. The slight rework on BG does help. I am old enough that I am not bothered by grain a lot( I can see it fine, just grew up with it), but this helped.

Good reason to have your camera along for the walk! Nice shooting angle for nest shot!

    Cheers

I'm glad you had your camera with you as this is a beautiful image. The framing of the nest with the branches works really well here and I love the details in both the bird, insect and the nest materials. Well done.

What a wonderful capture, John. Well done on all counts. The bug really adds a lot. I love the detail on the nest too.

Repost is better, such dainty little nests these birds make, looks about as snug as it could be, like the the eyes of the fly facing towards the camera...very considerate of the fly lol.

The repost addresses my noise concerns of the BG. Super nice image, beautiful nest, and as Phil points out the fly facing us directly is very neat! Looks like it is waving bye-bye before disappearing for good
