    Default Black-Bellied Plover

Another one from my trip to Little Estero Lagoon last week. This guy seemed to be very inquisitive and was always posing (as you see here). I'd always seen these guys in photos, and I was surprised at how [relatively] big they are. I was really expecting something the size of a sanderling, although I'm not sure why.

    Shooting info:
    D800 | 500 f/4 VR | 1.4x | home-made skimmer pod
    700mm | 1/2000 | f/7.1 | ISO 640

Comments, critiques, and suggestions are all welcomed and appreciated.

Nice one, Miguel. I like the ultra-low POV and the simple muted BG. I think I photographed this same fellow last Sunday afternoon at Little Estero. The image seems just a tad light to me - I wonder what a touch of black in the neutrals would do to it.

Bill - I must have just missed you! I was there Tues/Wed/Fri/Sat :) I'll add a bit of blacks to the neutrals and repost.

Perfect shooting angle, exposure and comp. BG is incredibly smooth. loved it.

I might try sharpening the head a bit.
