The punchline in this image is the washer with the flowers in it. The background really doesn't add a specific sense of place, and -- to me, at least -- competes with the subject. I'd suggest adding a bit of canvas on the right and cropping tighter on the left and top. Then, I'd fade the background with whatever worked -- bokeh, blur, darkening, desaturating or whatever diminishes it best.

I'm not sure I totally agree with Dennis re the background. I tried visually cropping in more on the washer and the photo lost some of it's aura. I like the old doors complimenting the old washer. I do wish there were more more canvas on the right.

Yes, the canvass on the right got trimmed after using Transform to straighten the buildings....I need to add some back, if I can. The tin wall will be a tough clone. Thanks, Hazel.

Dennis, The textures and the "funky" feeling to the scene is what drew me to it.

I can understand that, and I like the background colors. It took a couple tries, but I was able to get some extra canvas on the right without the tin looking too bad. Someone had shown me a way to do Content-Aware fill without pulling in parts of the image that aren't wanted. That was the trick. It involved loosely lassoing everything to the left of the right side of the washer and that reddish board next to the tin and concrete block and, then, filling it with black. If you do a search using the words, content aware mask, you can get a better account of how to do it. If Content-Aware can do it, I don't try anything else.

My Dad had his Rosemary Shrub in the same type of washer, I like the image, red flowers _ red roof, green leaves - green garage, ties everything in.... I would try to add a bit on the right if possible

Jay, I agree about more on the right, but I like the flowers and all the bright colors and shapes in the background.

I love the washer flower pot and the colors and textures in the image. Agree with above comments.

My mother used a washing machine similar to this one when I was a child. The Amish near me continue to do so today.
I played around with the image and came up with this. It may not reflect your vision in any way. I cropped some left and top, keeping some of the red and green to tie in with the flowers and greenery. I used CEP3 Vignette Blur a couple of times, and masked areas that didn't blur or stay crisp. I lightened and added saturation to the flowers to make them stand out more. I also cloned out the do not park signs. I did a quick job, but had fun.
    Thanks for sharing.

Anita, thanks for taking the time and effort to show your take. I like it, but for different reasons than I like the OP. Will keep it in mind if I ever figure out how to add canvass on the right............

My goal was to avoid adding canvas, which seems rather challenging. :-)
