    Default Lazy lioness

Typical lioness doing what all lions seem to do most of the time, laze around!

Not sure about the conversion as I'm doing this off site, so... Wanted a gritty/contrasty look & feel.

Hi Steve - Great pov and relaxed pose. The comp works well too. I like the choice to go b&w and the conversion is good, my only suggestion is that some of the lighter areas seem a bit bright but that may have been the contrast you were going for (e.g. the fringes of the ears, the left cheek, and the inside of the left front leg). You should experiment with b&w more often.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Good call on going B&W Steve and I like the contrast levels. The lioness looks deep in thought and the BG texture really make's her stand out.

    A strong image

Thanks guys, Rachel as I said, I'm doing this remotely on the laptop so it's never ideal, will look at it when I get back mid next week, appreciate the feedback.

    cheers

Steve, this is really a fabulous image, I like the b&w style & the subject is nice and relaxed and stands out against the BG. Perfect sharpness!

    Hey Steve,
Yeah....the B&W worked well. I am a big fan of contrasty conversions so this appeals to me very much! The also sleep a lot so I'll take the head up pose anytime!!!
    Very nicely done!

    Hi Steve,
as you know , not a big fan of B/W.
I like the pose and the relaxed feel of the image. Think you made a good job in conversion , all tones are working for me.Do not think , that some tones are too bright.
Love those shiny eyes, that you produce in almost every image.
But the BG , is make me thinking , not sure what to do , but not as presented. I would go either darker or brighter , too dominant for my taste.

    Usual high IQ, Master !!!

    Hi Steve

Nice to see you posting more black and white...!!! agree with others on POV, comp, tonality etc. Only suggestion I would make is some slight vignetting around edges just to lead viewers eyes to subject ...

    Thanks Boys & Girls.

Rachel/Andreas, will wait until back to review the image again, as on the laptop the whites & BKG look fine, but that is why I don't like to work remotely. Andreas curious that you don't like to break away from the norm, I think some of your recent postings could work in either medium.

AHHA Peter, I didn't on this one, but have on previous as I agree, it does draw the eye in.

Nicely done, Steve. As a general rule, I don't care for wildlife in b&w, but this one works. I like all the sharp features, especially the eyes and the big ears, but love the way the image isolates those big paws. Very nicely composed against a good OOF background. She looks physically relaxed, and mentally alert.

Hi Steve - do not think i stick to the norm , and what norm ?? I do not see any norm in general, just a lot of different views , about sometimes the same stuff. So i take the freedom for myself, to have the feeling i am not a big fan of B/W and say it !!!!!!
Got nothing to do with the images themselves. Could be , that some of my images could work in B/W. But i feel i see them in color and do not see them in B/W as a preferred media.

i think here are some folks posting good stuff in B/W , so i leave it up to them to post good or even excellent images without color.

    Regards Andreas

That's fine Andreas, I'm just suggesting that if you have an image in colour that you are happy with, then perhaps also try it in B/W or as a Duo/tri tone. Now some images do not always translate into B/W, but occasionally we can surprise ourselves with the change of medium. Plus in B/W we see things differently and light/shade play a bigger part in our image.

Anyway, it's always good to discuss options and it's always good to exchanges views with people like Peter and yourself & others who chip in.

This is very nice, Steve. I like the higher-than-usual (for you) contrast here, the clarity/IQ and the comp. You should do this more often
