    Default Bosque pre-dawn

Hi guys! Just got back from Bosque with loads of new images. Here's one I got before dawn. While freezing and waiting for the dawn with one rig set up on the tripod, I thought I would try something different and put the 70-200mm on the 7D body. This is what I saw at 200mm.

Wow! This image is a blast of color. How fortunate you were to be there to experience it, even though it was cold. Lovely bands of color, light and dark. The orange reflection in the water frames the image nicely. I would like the birds to be a bit lighter so they don't get lost. Here is what I had in mind--I just did a quick Dodge. Beautiful.

Gorgeous Kerry, what beautiful colors! I agree with Anita that the birds look better a little brighter and not so "gray".

Wow, that orange reflection in the water is amazing! Since the birds are too dense for silhouettes I agree that they could be a bit lighter as Anita illustrates. When I was at this location several years ago, they were so many photographers that I really had to hunt to find a space where I could stand and still have room to pan for flying birds.

Beautiful. What are the tech specs, especially shutter speed.

Hi Kerry, looks like you were treated to some great colors. I might darken the silhouetted area if it were mine but I am on my old laptop. Sorry I missed you!

Kerry, amazing range of colors! Love the setting and the birds. I too like the brightened up birds on Anita's repost.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the suggestions. Thank you Anita for the re-do, it looks good to me. I might try doing something with the graduated filters in LR4 to bring out the birds a bit. A second filter could be used to darken the silhouetted areas also.

Denise, sorry I missed you guys too - maybe next year I will be there a week later!
