    Default House Sparrow

Shot this one out of my patio door a few weeks back.
They were consistently flying from the fence to the feeders-
-making it a bit easier to track them in flight.

    House Sparrow, male. Ontario.
    50D | 300mm F4L IS | hand held
    ISO 2000, f4, 1/4000
Ran a noise reduction on the BG but noise still remains on the bird.

I bombed on my last post and it didn't have a thumbnail so it snuck by most of you
Hopefully this one will make up for it.

    Tim.

    Tim:

Nice full downstroke pose, angle in frame, exposure. Modest amount of noise in the darks, esp. the back wing, but I would rather have it sharp with some noise, than noiseless but blurred.

Were you using autofocus or manually focusing and waiting for him to hit a specific location?

    Cheers

Was using AI servo and followed them from the fence to the feeders. They would either land in the tree or land on the hanging feeders. I will try a fixed position focus with my tripod next time but I will have to eliminate 4 of the 5 feeders. Thanks.

    Hi Tim,
This looks excellent. Very minimal noise on the bird considering the ISO. Have you read Arash's ebook on how he processes in DPP for best noise reduction and sharpness? Ir really helps for high ISO shots.
Nice and sharp and good light with good BG.
Don't worry about your last post. You should see some of the dogs I posted early on!! We all learn from this site.

Beautiful pose and great composition, and great light too. Super sharp and great wing position. I don't mind the noise at all, as it's barely visible at this size. Well done!

Don't mind the slight noise, in fact I think it gives it a bit of a nice painterly look, very sharp and great downward wing style, background works nicely too

Great flight shot! Definitely not easy to photograph and you did pretty good in the noise department.

Wowiwitty wow, wow, wow! Not sure how you pulled this flight pose out, but it looks great. Noise is there, but acceptable. You did a great job of removing the noise from the bg, and the little that is left on the bird isn't bad at all.

Great image all around! Hope you have more from the set!

The noise is acceptable to me too, especially considering the high ISO with the 50D. Fabulous BG, and I love the full downward wing-stroke showing off the nice patterns and wingbar.

Hi Tim, you have done exceptionally well to capture this little fast flyer in the frame, and getting a great wing position too. Love the BG.
