Captured this in the spring at my local beach estuary. I like the arch of color change in the BG so the squarish crop worked better IMO. The vertical comp made the arch less noticeable. Thoughts?

Thanks as always for looking and for your input.

Not bothered at all by the crop, agree that it works. love the wing position and the exposure looks good. I love the way you can see the tail fan from this angle. Nice one!

I think the square crop works well here too. Although they are my favorite it is always good to keep an open mind to ratios other than 3:2. Good techs. I'm only wondering what caused the sky to bleed onto the edge of the top of the head.

Hi David, great inflight pose, good eye contact, and great to show up the eye against the dark cap. Love the hint of orange on both the bill and feet.

Super feather details with the fully out-stretched wing and the spread tail. Nice to capture a highlight in the eye. Those orange feet and bill provide great color contrast.

The bird looks great! Terrific wings up position and great eye contact and IQ.
I have to say that I think I would prefer this as a vertical.
No one else has mentioned this but the BG seems to have some artifacting ie like ground glass or splotchy appearance.
Would do another round of NR or slight Gaussian blur,
    Gail

Great flight pose, nice wing position and perfect HA, David. The canvas choice is not the most conventional but I it seems to be working.

nice pose, details and exposure. I too see artifacts in the BG, it may come from too much compression

I pretty much like it all David. Very nice. I, too, see the artifacts and wonder what caused the upper line of the head to merge with the sky.
