I actually think he has his leg, but it must be giving him some pain so he's holding it up.

Eastern Yellow Robin, common on the Eastern Seaboard of Oz, not here in Sth Australia sadly, this one from a recent trip interstate. I kinda liked his mossy post perch.

Canon 7D + 500 f4..............crazy settings, a quick unplanned shot, but.....f6.3, ISO 400, 1/100, no flash, tripod mounted just on dark, small crop, slight sharpen and slight noise reduction to backdrop

Lovely details and colors, Phil. I think he's holding it up b/c that's how he rests. Love the perch. I would crop a little from the left and top to move the bird to the left a tad.

Nice simple clean shot. The bird is sharp and I love his colors, I also like the perch. I might just tone down the yellow spot in the BG in front of the bird.

It look like the moss is flowering that makes this otherwise average post a very nice one. The bird is a beauty. Wonderfull yellow and nice bluish-grayish head. Nice HA and eye contact.
Excellent shot, Phil. I would have gone a little tighter on the sides but it is a personal preference.

Beautiful overall. Love the pose (yes, many birds rest with one leg tucked up like that). The post is nicely weathered and those mosses add lots of character to it. Comp-wise I'd move the bird and perch to the left a bit more, and I'd take a close tlook at the brightest yellows near the cheek as they are pushing hot. Very well done Phil!

Hi Phil, I really like the yellows and greys together that this species has, and you have brought out the finer detail nicely. As mentioned, the perch is nicely weathered, thus not a distraction as not being a natural perch, and another vote for moving him to the left.

Congrats on a beautiful image. Excellent IQ.
Love the weathered perch and moss/vegetation.
Agree with cropping from the left,
    Gail
