Whats your workflow...
HI All
I am currently trying to amend my workflow to achieve the best possible results,
Once downloaded and then viewed using the excellent Breeze Browser I only covert the keepers from Raw using DPP. At the moment I do all my editing in Lightroom based around the exp controls and minor spot removal. I am debating if PS would be more beneficial in view of Arthur's recent mp4 tutorial. I am curious to know what other's are using and why?.......
Cheers

Ian,
I use Canon DPP to convert my RAWs and Adobe PS CS6 for further editing. Artie and I wrote a quick guide about how to convert your RAW files using Canon DPP in order to achieve the best output. You can get this guide from Artie's store.
Good luck,
Arash

Hi Arash
Thanks for the reply, I do have your excellent PDF on Canon DPP and this is a must have read. I am wondering if there is a loss of quality by using LR for the exp/tonal adjustments.I feel the need for PS CS6 looks like.....

Hi Ian,
Yes, unfortunately LR/ACR does not do a great job when converting RAW files from recent Canon cameras. At low ISO it does not make a big difference but at high ISO grain structure from ACR is very coarse and color rendition is also poor. Correcting for these will cause final IQ to suffer.
IMO the most solid workflow consists of only DPP for RAW conversion and Photoshop for advanced editing. In order to get the best quality output you need advanced layer control so you can put the bird and the BG on separate layers, this is something only Photoshop can do.
