First, I'm sorry I've been gone for so long...life has thrown a few curves. Hoping to get back into the swing of imagery again...we'll see where the days ahead take me. This was taken three days ago, at the National Riverlands Migratory Sanctuary, on a morning with very dense fog. 40mm, f/11@1/20. RAW image processed in LR...NIK ColorEfex ProContrast, followed by Simplify->Buzz Sim on a layer where I painted a little detail back into the foreground, then NIK ColorEfex Pastel. Looking forward to your thoughts.

I like the blues and yellows together. (I recently read something about complementary colors being discordant, but they've never felt that way to me.) The tree is certainly an important element, and I like the negative space around the top and right of it. If the image were mine, I'd add some additional canvas on the left for two reasons. One is that it would emphasize the broad expanse. The other is the effect that it would have on the composition in terms of divine proportions.

Metaphorically, I think the tree and the fog could make a strong statement, so I'd also be inclined to add some fog in Color Efex and mask it gently off the foreground, but that might be messing with your vision of the image.

Dennis, thank you for your comments....good suggestions. I tweaked the image for fog enhancement around the tree...cropped a bit, added a bit...liking what I see. Thank you for your suggestions.

And...still tweaking...a slightly different take on your suggestions...

Hi John, I love the effect on the grass. Classic comp! I would like to see more detail in the tree (a bit less netting from Simplify)...............that's strictly personal taste. Of the three, I like the second. Agree with Dennis's canvas suggestion.

I like the second (the first re-post) better, too. My reaction to the webbing in the original post was the same as Jay's. Sometimes I find the webbing a plus; sometimes not. In this case, though, when you added fog, the webbing was less noticeable. If the fog were even stronger, I think the webbing would have a positive effect.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions...and thank you to Jay for some specifics on reducing webbing when we talked over coffee before a shoot this morning. Giving this another go...

Perfecto! Other than a very slight blue cast..................keep it that way if you like it.

Always happy to see your images! Welcome back. Life does have a way of intruding on our photography.
I'll go with the last version. Love the look of the grasses. I also like how they contrast with the tree and sky. Very nicely done.
