    Default Male Chestnut Quail-thrush

Another arid land ground dweller, generally living in isolated dry Mallee regions with some scrubby understorey bushes. Becoming quite scarce in much of Australia due to habitat clearing for farm use, always a treat to find one though. This one responded to playback and came in search of the bird call.

Canon 7D + 500 f4.....f5.6, 1/400, ISO 400, no flash used, semi handheld shot { using a tree branch for support }...basic edit with selective sharpen, noise reduction to background, cropped to vertical.

    Phil:
Excellent image of beautiful Thrush.Very nice colors, details, interesting perch and nice complimentary colors of BG.
Love the red eye.I think bird would take little bit of more sharpening.

    Phil:

This is a species I have never seen, and quite the interesting colors and tones. Nice eye! Wish the head was back our way just a bit. Agree with Satish, a sliver more sharpening.

    Cheers

Hi Phil, love the belly and tail follow the line of the perch, and I too, havent seen this species. I do like all the different colours on him, and BG looks good too.

Very cool bird. Nice position on the perch. I may tone down those bright spots in the LLC

Cool looking bird, very nice colors combination. A bit head turn towards the camera would have been even better. I like the perch and the bg.

Thanks for looking, tips taken on board, sharpening is something I struggle with when presenting on the net, hard to judge what is good without over sharpening

Nice work Phil - hard bird to get a clean shot of - well done! Could perhaps do with a bit more room all around,
    Cheers Greg

Thanks Greg, these birds certainly can be elusive, always a treat to get a picture of one, and I managed both male and female on this outing

Phil, beautiful bird indeed. Not recollect seeing shots of this one. You captured it beautifully with creamy BG. A little head turn your way would have made it better.
