    Default Gadwall in Flight

First few shots with the new lens and whoa what a difference. Still learning the capabilities of the 500mm V1 coming from a 100-400.

7D+500mm, 7.1, ISO 400, 1/2500, Handheld. I was probably too close. The AF locked well but I think I missed the eye ever so slightly...But I feel good about this one, What do you all think?

Two other half ducks removed from the frame, Slight canvas added in front, almost full frame.

    C&C requested and appreciated.

    Amol:

Congrats on the new toy, always fun, and I suspect you will find both good and bad about a big prime. I do miss the zoom function at times.

The sharpness looks fine to me in this small image, nice wing position, good detail, well exposed.

Look forward to more of your images with the new lens.

    Cheers

That's a great shot Amol. Perfect wing position, nice background. Sharpness looks good from here. The only thing I suggest is trying to bring a slight bit more pop out of the coloured and shaded part of the right wing

Hi Amol, excellent flight pose with the raised wings, and the overall sharpness looks good from here. Nicely separated from the BG, and comp wise, I would him down in the frame a touch.

Nice IQ and perfect sharpness IMO. The bird stands out nicely from the BG and the composition is very balanced as well.

Amol, splendid job. they are strong fliers. IQ looks great. loved the angle of the duck and the DOF coverage.

I think the duck can be a bit brighter. If mine, I'd take some off the bottom..crop it above your watermark.
