    Hi folks ,
next seal image from my trip.
Lying flat on the ground in close range to a 2,5 - 3 tons animal, could be dangerous i was told, i tried it!!!

    Hope you like it!

No need of more rotation , for me.
Though i am not 100 % sure of the red/yellow tones, tell me your thoughts.

    Canon EOS 1D MK III
    EF 70- 200 IS L at 78 mm
    Handheld

    F 8 ; 1/200sec ; ISO 400

Processed in RPP and PS ; almost FF cropped for slight canvas rotation

    Comments good or bad appreciated

Wow! The POV on this one is amazing.
I like how he is looking directly at you. Perhaps he is thinking how easy it would be to squish you!!
I like the wide angle feel of this image and the environment portrayed.
I do feel there is a slight magenta cast .

Great shot Andreas. Maybe you could have avoided clipping the flipper on the left border? Otherwise awesome!

Hi Andreas - great pov, it was worth it. There is a slight red/magenta cast to the seal but having not seen one of these in person I'm not sure if it is too much. I really like the snow covered glacier/mountain as a bg here. I do wish you could have moved slightly left so that it would be the distant rock/snow off the seal's left side (right as we view it) instead of the closer rock with foliage(?). Btw I'm not seeing where the flipper is clipped . Keep 'em coming.

Hi Andreas, one 'cracking' image and shows, with careful respect to the subject, and knowing the limitations in getting the shot, images like this can be achieved.

Good depth of detail and nicely processed, one of the best from the MKIII and yourself Andreas. My only wish is exactly what Rachel highlighted, the area on the RHS touching the seal and moving slightly to the left might have helped avoid the more 'central' position.

    Cool Andreas.

Thanks for watching and leaving comments.

Sanjeev - flipper is not clipped at all.

Rachel and Steve - honestly i was concentrating totally on the seal and forgot about the BG, i was close and lying flat on the ground , dressed really warm but uncomfortable for quick movements.second i had to be careful with myself due to the surgery , what kind of movements i make, third the seal was moving into my direction.

So all in all , i went down on my belly to take some closeups of the face , but this guy decided ,after some shots , to move, so i moved too, out of his way.

Just try to reduce magenta /red and make an RP,OK!!

Beautiful round face with all of the circular folds of skin radiating down from it and the sand falling off. Couldn't be better. I like the background just the way it is, great rock on the left, and penguins on the right.

Sorry Andreas, I stand to correct myself, the flipper is indeed not clipped. I had checked on the iPad, I looked on my desktop and it looks just fine. great encounter and well done.

    Sanjeev, no problemo !!!!

For Rachel and Steve and for all others, too.

Reworked with color correction and removed rock in BG.

Think it works better. Thanx for advice.

Andreas - the repost addresses all the minor issues and really takes it up a notch IMHO. Well done.

Now, isn't that better Andreas? Easy with hindsight compared to being there!

I hope you don't mind a B&W re-post for a different look. I thought the B&W would mitigate the , to me, rather bright bg and the penguins to the right, and put the concentration on the seal itself. Not to say the op is a bad choice. I think the tones of the seal, the rock tot he left, help grab the eye a bit better. Just my two cents however. What do you think?
