    Default Red-capped Robin

    A reasonably common species in the arid inland and often easily coaxed into coming close using playback or making squeaky noises. They will often perch prominently, as did this little chap, although he was in the shade and fill flash was used.

    Canon 7D + 500 f4.....f4.5, 1/200, ISO 200 { auto ISO setting used } in shaded area, fill flash, tripod mounted.......... basic editing ie : crop to vertical, selective sharpen, noise reduction to backdrop.

    { I have been experimenting with auto ISO on the 7D lately and generally finding noise levels are better controlled...but it's not the cure all as sometimes shutter speeds may suffer with low auto ISO selection }

    Beautiful bird, nice pose, smooth backgrround an good use of fill flash, Phil. What was the setting on the flash if you don't mind posting it?

    Looks great. I would have preferred the subject higher with more perch showing (kind of like Jim's nuthatch repost) a few threads down. Love the reds, nice details, and pleasing studio-like BG.

    That's a gorgeous little bird Phil and you have shown it nicely. Great IQ, perch and angle. I find the background a bit too plain but understand that that's probably just what the arid inland gives you.
