    Default Purple Swampy

    The Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio).
    Taken this morning before work
    Image full size straight off camera with only resize and sharpen for web with slight colour adjust.
    C&C most welcome.
    Camera Pentax K200D and Sigma 150-500m, ISO640, SS 1/400, f6.3, EV +0.3.

    Nice to get one out in the open like that. I like the eye contact, sharpness, and striding pose. The bird is placed a little low in the frame for my taste, and I'm not crazy about the band of shadows up top.

    Very cool subject, funny to see such long legs on this type of body type! I agree with Doug, and I would also not sharpen the grass. Good job on the details and the tough exposure (because of the harsh light).

    Myself I find the light is showing the finer detail nicely with a natural glossy sheen, very sharp image and love that eye, I'd be incline to crop the darker band on the top and a bit on the left
