What a cute little bird. We have three nuthaches in the west, I didn't know there were more. He is very sharp and really stands out with the light shinning on him.

Thanks Laurie. This species has a limited range. A friend of mine who lives in North Georgia invited me over to try for the bird. It is not found in West Tennessee where I live.

Very good fine detail there, loving also the light on it's face, well timed to get the natural light just right, really had brought out excellent detail I. This bird reminds me very much of what we call a Sittella here, does this bird also walk up and down the trunks of trees looking for food ?

Super detail and focus throughout, right to the very tip of the beak. Feel like I could just reach and touch him. Lovely light.

Great choice on DoF to get the wonderful detail & sharpness. I really like the complimentary BG & the bird's pose. TFS.

Thanks again for the comments everyone.

And Phil, yes, foraging up and down tree trunks is a very common behavior for this bird.

Good looking image overall. I just find the sharpening a wee bit strong, and I wish the sunlight extended to the wingtip and tail. Good comp, very "in-your-face".

    Allen:

The lighting really makes this one stand out. Agree with Daniel, a bit oversharpened. For my eye, I might try to tone down the dark edge of the perch that angles through the neck/breast area.

    Quite sweet.

    Cheers
