    Another arid land species, this one living among the Spinnifex Grass and bushes in some sand dunes, coaxed out of hiding by mouthing squeaky noises formed by yours truly { try not to visualize that }

    I have PS'd this one quite a bit by removing some oof background twigs etc, then decided to remove a few more...and then some more until I ended up with a unintended clean backdrop.....hmmmmm.....not something I usually do, but I got a bit carried away with the clone tool

    Canon 7D _ 500 f4 + 1.4 x TC.....700mm, f6.3, ISO 400, 1/320 , manual mode, no flash, tripod mounted, early morning dull skies

    Phil:

    Such handsome birds, a jaunty pose here, well exposed. Perhaps a sliver more sharpening on the head.

    Nice job on the BG cleanup.

    Cheers

    Wow that's a great bird and a great capture. Maybe burning that bright pale blue cheek a bit.

    Hi Phil, I really like the colours on the wren, and love the pose with the cocked tail. I also like the curved perch, and the BG looks good. I agree with Randy with a touch more sharpening.

    Hi Phil,
    like the pose and colors of this tiny little bird.
    Nice processing and good job on the BG.
    But i would like to see a bit more of the twigs , is looking too empty , for me.

    Thanks for looking folks, I tend to agree with Andreas in regards to being a bit empty looking though.

    Hi Phil - nice looking bird with vibrant blues. I agree on the touch more sharpening. Nice job on the clean-up but it does look slightly sterile now so I agree with you and Andreas.

    Rachel

    That's some fine blue bird, Phil, and is there any chance you'd share a messier version? If not the original than something halfway? I don't like nondescript backgrounds myself although I certainly can understand their appeal!

    Thanks, I'll see if I have time to re-edit, or I could just post up another one of the series sometime soon.

    I like it alot. I've never seen one of these in real life, but from photos they are one of my favorites. I like these types of images and think you did a great job, I do prefer to achieve this look in the field though.
