    Default Simple Pleasures

Greetings. I'm thankful for the simple pleasure of seeing a bird sitting on a bush as the sun comes out after the rain.

OOTB? Subject small in frame, sitting vertical in a wide pano crop or is the bush part of the subject, backlit with sun reflecting off rain sparkling... took the shot on a lark ;-)...

    Thanks for looking.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Anytime you can photograph anything is special, I like the image, the pano...is it OOTB, I can't say but if you think it is, then thats all that counts. Only thing I would change is that I'd probably clone out the end of the branch in top right and the last leaves in bottom right to make it even with left side. Keep them coming. Is this a Golden Crowned Sparrow?

I like this image a lot. I like the pano, the direction of the bird's head, the gorgeous bokeh. The branches on the right look OK to me. I just wish the bird stood out a bit more--a minor issue.

I agree with Anita. The bird, the bokeh, and the pano crop are wonderful. I wish the upper right branch were curving down, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. To make the bird stand out more, I first tried a custom Curves layer. It helped, but I thought much of the rest of the image needed to be darker, so I used Nik Color Efex Darken/Lighten Center. I'm not really sure that's the answer, however.

I didn't really say I thought the leaves were a deal breaker or that it should be done, I think I said its what, I would do.

I prefer the softer colors of the OP.

Hi Michael, beautiful pano composition! I like it... it is a simple subject and yet gets our attention. I like the perspective and the softness of the original image. I would be tempted to take a bit off the left, if it were mine.

I agree, the OP works for me, and a bit off the left would be my vote. Nice pose and great OOF highlights in the background just make this shot for me.

    Paul, Anita, Dennis, Indranil, Jay,

Thanks much for the comments. They are greatly appreciated.

    Paul, yes, a Golden-crowned Sparrow.

Part of my plan to stave off Florida bird envy is to post West Coast birds ;-)... sorry you got caught in the cross-fire.

I've only put up feeders in the past year & have been happy with a variety count pushing 30.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-
