    Default Barred Owl portrait

From Cape May last month; captive bird courtesy of The Raptor Project. Wish I had shifted to camera a few inches to the right.

D7000, 500f4, ISO 1250, 1/320s @ f/6.3 manual, fill @ -0.3 (that's what the EXIF says anyway; adjacent frames are brighter so either the flash did not fire on this one, or hadn't fully recharged, but I liked this one better as a result)

    Nice image, Bill.
I like the way the brancg on tje right follows the contour of the Owl.
Nicely done. the only nits if youare into cloning would be to remove the skinny branch fro under the main branch on the left.

Nice shot, I love the eyes they look like glass.

I would love to get some wild owl shots hoping this winter I will get a chance.

    Bill:

Great display of the talons, sharp, well exposed, I like the framing provided by the overhead branch.

In regards to the flash: I will often shoot a burst of 3-4 frames when I have the flash on, and then pick my favorite from the "bracketed flash" exposures.

    Cheers

Hi Bill, just love how the owl is tucked into the fork of the tree - frames him nicely. Good detail on the owl, sharp, and I like perch. If your flash did fire, it is very subtle, so well done.
