    Default An Eye.

This cormorant was imaged this week at the nearby lake. Almost all the cormomrants (group of 35-40) were sitting on man-made wall inside the lake in shallow water under the shadow of the tree.
Low natural light. One was found on the branch nearest to me. Cropped and sharpened.
White patch running across the neck just above the eye is darkened and small portion perch at LLC is removed.NR applied to background.

    ISO: 800, 1/200 @ F: 8.0.Evaluating metering. Inbuilt flash used.
White balance: Auto. HH. Canon: 550D, 400mm.

Thanks for viewing and appreciation. C & C are highly appreciated.
    Kind Regards.

Interesting and different presentation. The eye and head look sharp to me. I think the BG is somewhat distracting and may benefit by toning it down a bit. I also think I would eliminate the OOF body in the upper left.

Unique image of an often photographed species. I agree with Nick's assessment. I also find there to be a noticeable cyan cast that can likely be easily and quickly fixed by adding some red.

I like what you were going for here. The face is sharp, and the eye too (I would be tempted to darken the pupil). I would have pointed my lens a bit higher and to the left, and opened up the aperture to minize the streaking in the BG (and give you more SS).

Interesting idea, Satish. I don't think the oof portion in the ULC adds to the image, but I like the rest. Good comments above.

Niceimage, Satish. I would go with a tighter crop to put more emphasis on the eye.

    Satish:

I like the different approach here. Do agree with the above thoughts, color cast and cropping. For my personal taste, the last repost is too tight. I slightly prefer the 2nd crop, but might move him slightly off center.

    Cheers

Hi Satish, well done for creating something different and it works for me. I may be wrong, But I feel you have added too much red. In my version, I desaturated the cyan and blue channels, and then added back a touch or red in saturation.

This is a very creative view and I think it is great. I do think the whites in the bkgd would be less of a distraction if they were toned down. I prefer seeing a bit of the body in the image.

I think this is a truly creative shot, very sharp, good exposure, and it would look great "blown up" on the wall. I actually agree with Stuart and prefer the original's relatively neutral cast (not to contradict the others' comments...it's a personal choice). Very well done!

10/10 for originality Satish. I like the cropped version without the oof body, but prefer the more natural coloring of the first, the re post looks to brown for a Cormorant I think
