Captured this in the summer at my local beach estuary. These guys are very fast and have a continual turning flight pattern that makes them a challenge to capture. Always happy to get a few keepers. Not the best wing position but I like the sense of speed this pose gives.

Thanks as always for looking and your input. Appreciated.

great incoming pose against the BG. The image is excellent but I think it would look a lot better if you optimized RAW processing workflow. It seems like some NR was applied here that has softened fine details a bit. there are some compression artifacts in the BG, pretty much like in-camera JPEGs.

    TFS, BG is really cool

Very cool BIF David. I like the birds pose and killer two toned BG. I agree with some TLC would help get this to another level. Well done.

I'm just in awe you captured such a fine image of a bird in flight at 700mm. Liking the subtle color tones in the backdrop, maybe just a tad more sharpen and I can see some editing oddities around the birds head, smudging or something

    Hi David,
I agree that something is not right with the PP.
I see some artifacts in the BG and the feather detail isn't quite right.
I think this could be an excellent shot with some reprocessing.
i like the sense of speed the wing position gives and the nice BG,
    Gail

Agree with others about the IQ, I love the wing position and the composition. The BG works nicely for me.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I did too much pp on the BG trying to clean up the blotch on the left. Also eased up on the contrast and sharpening. This shot dose have a narrow DOF so the detail past the head starts going away quick. Did it help. Thanks again for your input.

Hi David, the inflight pose certainly does show a sense of speed, and pops nicely against the BG. I would maybe place him a little more back to the URC, and well done on your repost - looks good.

Repost is a big improvement. I like the wing position, flight angle, eye contact and BG. Well done David.
