    Default Yellow-plumed Hioneyeater

Another arid land species from Australia's dry interior , this one and his friends coming into a temporary backwater pool of water to drink and bathe. Placed a couple of sticks at an angle at the waters edge and sat back and waited for one to perch upon it....hey presto !

Sadly very dull light on an overcast day...but at least the highlights didn't blow out

Canon 7D + 500 f4.....f4, 1/640, ISO 1000, + 0.3EV, no flash used, minimal editing with crop, selective sharpen and background noise reduction, taken from a distance of approx 25 feet.

Nice trick with the sticks. Unique bird. Nice shot and well exposed in the even light. Good detail and smooth BG. Well done.

Taa for looking....but I'm not so sure on the ID, the yellow plume seems too big for a Fuscous but agree it seems to lack the streaking on the breast of the Yellow-plumed....maybe a juvenile...I'll check the other shots of the others in the flock, but you may very well be right. I was not expecting anything but the Yellow-plumed so maybe I have jumped to a conclusion too soon.

Hoping it is a Fuscous because it's another new one for my collection if so

I like the bird, background, perch, and sharpness. I would darken the perch a bit (my eye draws there for some reason), and wish for a bit more head turn.

Nice simple image design. Beautiful subject, nice monotone BG, and neat perch. I agree there are some highlights to tone down on the perch (directly below the knot).

I like the pose, perch matching body angle, soft light and composition. Toning down the perch already mentioned. Well done Phil!
