Default OK Artie - I moved to the right this time! - ISO 3200

I posted a landing trumpeter a few days ago, and Artie commented that it would have been better if he had bee coming right at me. Well, I got one to do just that this AM

Was a fairly cloudy, dark morning, and with swans you really need the DOF from a smaller f/stop to have any hope of getting them in focus, esp. when coming right at you (very long neck!) You also need high shutter speed to freeze the motion, so that left me with only one option, raise the ISO enough to allow the other settings. The dynamic range is somewhat reduced at this ISO, but noise performance is still pretty good in my opinion. No noise reduction on this image.

Post: Small crop from bottom for comp. One bright spot in BG toned down. Selective sharpening. The shore line angles towards us on the left, so it looks just slightly rotated on the BG, water looks about right to my eye

Let me know what you think about the noise, is it acceptable for this small web sized image?

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

    Randy

This is a great shot. I would love to get something like this. I like the nice soft colour of the background. I don't think noise is a problem at all in this photo.

Hi Randy. Noise looks fine from here. I like the everything about the incoming bird but think a degree of CW rotation might be in order.

Great incoming pose and nice background Randy. ISO 3200 is the one I never dared to use so far.

Hi Randy, love the slight tilted incoming pose, together showing the full wingspread. Exposure is good, and Im fine with the rotation.

Noise looks to be very good ESP at this high ISO. Great incoming shot, good sharpness on the head, like the wingspread and webbed feet well done.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am going to do some tweaking on my auto iso settings to allow this level of ISO in a pinch, will see how it flies
