    Default Junco

Went to one of the popular birding areas this AM to check out the changes caused by the storm(Sandy). This particular area survived fairly well. Not so for many of the other area beaches. The landscape has been re-shaped by the storm , and will take a very long while to return , if ever. But I'm sure the birds and other critters will adapt and survive. Time will tell.
Many Junco and Goldfinch around. They just never give a clean shot. They seem to love the cover.

I like seeing the Junco in this setting. Not sure I have ever seen one except on holiday cards with snow. Glad you kept in the pine cones. Lovely light.

Liking the peekaboo composition, nice natural setting and the focus looks good

    Joe:

Strong environmental component here, and agree they can be very challenging to get a clean shot at.

I would consider a crop from the right to remove some of the OOF foreground needles, and a small balancing crop from the left. Yes, a bit more centered bird that way, but an option to reduce the impact of the foreground.

Thanks for the update on conditions.

    Cheers

Nice showing the environment and nice eye contact with the bird, Joe.

    Thanks randy,

I would like to know why this B&H Banner keeps showing up on my posts. I don't see it on others. Is it a random thing? At any rate , I prefer not to have it as I did not give anyone my permission to make it seem as if I endorse B&H.
I have no agreement with them and receive no compensation for such. I would like it to stop. If BPN has an arrangement with B&H , fine , just please keep it out of my posts.

    Thanks.

    Very nice shot.
I really like the how it pops from pine tree. Great pose and very nice light.
We get them here in the winter and I agree tough little bird to get out in the open.
    Well done.

A fine capture of this little sprite in a different setting than I'm used to seeing them featured in.
Very nice light quality. I enjoy the composition as is.
