Oriental Pied Hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris) female Pangkor Island Malaysia
Canon EOS 7D Lens 400mm L USM ISO 400 F7.1 1/640 fill flash4 November 2012 late afternoon overcast
Oriental Pied Hornbills are the most common hornbill in this part of Perak but while I had some flight images Pangkor Island provided some close images in both overcast and raining conditions. Great to observe these birds at close quarters. Here is one of the first processed images I hope you like it. Birdlife International has a comprehensive fact sheet on this species at :http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/spe...eet.php?id=947 . The Oriental Pied Hornbill occurs in Northern and north-eastern India, and from southern China and Thailand through the Malaysian Peninsular, Indonesia and Borneo. While the most common hornbill it may be reaching the threshold of vulnerable
status.
Thanks for viewing
