    Default Red Shouldered Hawk

This is another from the same outing as the previous image RSH image:

Taken near Flamingo, Florida, at about 4:00 PM in September.

7D, 300 2.8 IS mk I with 2x TC mk II, 1/400, f9, ISO 250, manual exposure, handheld braced on a Suburban Roof, back button AF, AI servo, Auto White Balance.

RAW Conversion in LR, then further optimized in PS CS 4. Used Selective color to darken the blue sky, with a mask on the bird. Used NIK Color EFEX Tonal contrast. When down-ressed, Sharpened with smart sharpen with a mask on the blue and the edges of the bird.

    Thanks for looking!

Very nice! I like the lighting on the hawk and the windblown uplift of the feathers. Detail and clarity also look good to me. I'd be nice if you had a little bit more canvas on the left side (tail side) and a little less sharpening on the perch (looks a bit crunchy on my monitor) which draws my attention away from the bird. Really nice overall look.

  3. Thanks ann shiller thanked for this post
