    Default Alaskan Bald Eagle

    Attached Images Attached Images

Taken in early morning in April near Homer ....5dIII 1/2000 f/4 ISO 400 70-200 f2.8L IS II USM + 1.4x TC III

LR4, CS6, RAW conversion through LR4, Uncropped with Arash's Sharpening technique per his ebook. Selective noise reduction on background.

Saved for bpn through LR4 export as opposed to saving to web and optimizing through Photoshop.

    Steve,

Wonderful image with excellent detail and color on the eagle.

I think a crop from the top and bottom would be great for this image, but that's just my opinion.

Quick question, do you notice a difference between the two export processes? I first started with the LR4 export, and then moved toward saving straight from PS after resizing and sharpening for web.

thanks Miguel....I have not posted in this forum in a while.

Since I use this image mainly on my website, my main keeper of this one is 16:9 which as you suggest looses a bit of bottom and top...but did the BPN size on this so I should have re looked...of course, a bit top and bottom creates the "leading" space question....in any case this is the uncropped version as composed in the field.

Agree with your experience with LR exports vs Photoshop...IMO, exporting from Photoshop rather than LR is preferable as you have more control when you size the image, optimize , embed color profile and sharpen accordingly....not sure how much of that happens in the LR export....I know I have done both and had people comment on the color tinting issues more on images out of LR....That being said, that has not happened since I upgraded my monitor, keep it calibrated bi weekly, embed the color profile and am more knowledgeable.

Thanks for the reply Steve. I'm experimenting with both methods. :)

details and sharpness look very good on my screen. I like the water drops. the light band on the top is a bit distracting IMO, I would go for a tighter crop to eliminate the band.

Thanks for the feedback.... http://blackpearl.smugmug.com/Nature...6052&k=NPrQDM2 is the larger version but in a 16:9 that I have been experimenting since the web is the way I share most of my images.....This one has the bright water cropped out....starting to redo a number of my images using Arash's techniques...to me they improve significantly when I use that technique...

Great shot and yes the smug version is a stonker. You have some excellent shots on your website. The colours , action, sharpness and exposure are spot on with this shot, look forward to more.
