This male blue wren visited my backyard recently - hangs around the compost heap searching for insects.

    Hi John,
Very nice pose and an unusual perch. I like how the bird's left foot is holding onto the stem of the seed pod.
I would desaturate the green in the BG as it overwhelms the bird.
Image is a bit contrasty so I would tweek that a bit.

Killer pose on this one, esp the raised tail. Love love the perch. Is this a natural BG?

Beautiful bird, perch and background. I love it the way it is but Gail has some good comments.

Very nice! It's so frustrating when a black eye is surrounded by black feathers. I've had some success reducing contrast and bringing up shadow detail with the Shadows slider in the Lightroom (or PS) raw converter (the latest version is much improved). Then the Detail Extractor in Nik's Color Efex Pro 4 can bring out even more, along with highlight detail.

(I'm fairly new here -- is it out of place to get into processing here?)

Now that's a backyard bird to die for. Lovely capture, with good comments by Gail to make it even better.

Thanks for the comments Marina - yes the BG here is my lawn but will desaturate the green a bit as Gail suggested.

I agree, a bit too green, but a very nice close up of this little bird.

I love the pose ith the great leg position, the cute little bird and the cool perch. Blacks look a little too dark to me
