One of my favourite waders David - love your composition here and the under-carriage down ready for landing! Sharp where it counts, good early morning lighting and portrayed nicely against a soft even BG.

    This is really nice.
I love the light and the gun metal grey BG.
The curve of the bill parallels the back wing which makes for some really nice lines in the image.
I would like a bit more room on the RHS,

    Hey David,
Love the BG and pose but the DOF falloff is bothering me a bit. In this case dropping to 1/2000 may have helped gain a bit of DOF but tough to do in those quick decision times.

Hi David, I too like how the curved bill follows the line of the far wing. I like the angled pose, well exposed, and nice clean BG.

I like this lots. The pose could not have been better, and I like the chose crop. Great light. I'd try another round of sharpening to the head and neck areas, I'm sure a bit more fine details may come out of there.

    Wonderful shot.
Really like the pose, great head angle and wing position. Exposed very well and I really like the background as it brings out the bird nicely.
    Well done.

An elegant and lovely pose. Dan hit the nail on the head with a bit more sharpening to the head and neck....

excellent light, good landing pose and the breeding plumage is pleasing. I wonder if you had to apply NR as the head/neck appear to have lost detail

Thanks Cheryl. Glad you like it. The BG is a spot I call reflection pond. I have posted a few shots of Avocets with reflections at this spot. The distant hill and the water color make for a neat gun metal grey BG. Thanks again
